Introducing the Kinally family

Hello! Welcome to our little travel blog, we’re hoping to keep up to date on here with all our latest adventures and travel tips.

We’re a family of four, Dave, Emily, April and Luna. We’re not nomads, nor have we taken a year off to travel the world. We’re just a normal family, heading to different places as often as we can to show our two girls as much of the world we live in as possible.

We decided to set up a blog after receiving a good response on Dave’s Instagram (@traveldaddave) when we suggested we write one. Most people said they would, so we hope they’ve come over to have a read! We aim for it to be full of useful tips for families travelling, encouragement that yes, you really can travel with children, and also reviews of places we’ve stayed.

So, let’s get on with the introduction.

The four of us live on a farm in Cambridgeshire (think wheat not cows) and love to travel at any opportunity we get.

Dad

Until recently Dave worked at a prison in the education department which is why we don’t often post photos of the girls’ faces (if you’ve ever wondered). He’s a little more laid back about sharing on our Instagram stories if you ever check them out. Dave is now a full time photographer, mainly weddings. This gives him more time at home with the girls and a lot more flexibility when it comes to travelling. He’s also hugely into music, studied commercial music at university and writes, records and produces his own songs! Top of his bucket list are Canada, Indonesia and Mexico.

Mum

Emily studied law at university and worked in marketing in London until April was born, she now works for the farm we live on. She’s a big Harry Potter and Disney fan, so our trips to Florida are her happy place! Growing up Emily travelled extensively with her family which is where she gets her wanderlust from. She can usually be found on holiday directing Dave to take photos then nagging him to offload them to his computer. Top of her bucket list are Bali, Thailand and Costa Rica.

The four year old

April is our eldest. She’s a fiery and complex soul. She’s a bright little girl with a heart of gold, but only on her terms. One day she can be the happiest, most helpful and sweetest little girl, another day she can have a meltdown about everything and most of the day is a battle. She loves princesses and dresses, but also finds it hilarious to sing songs about poo and tell you when she’s trumped.

The toddler

Luna is only 20 months old so we’re still getting to know her. However she’s usually happy and relaxed. Her tantrums are few and far between thankfully, but if she has one you’ll hear about it! She copies everything April does and loves to make people laugh. Top bribes to get her to sit quietly in a pram include snacks and Baby Shark.
